Our Story.
In 2003, the first seed of Lighthouse was planted through a prophetic word. It was at a conference in England where Tineke, our founder, received this word from a pastor. He prophesied that she would start a ministry and call it Lighthouse. Little did she know then what would be happening now.
A year later God called Tineke to set 6 months apart to seek Him. During this time, a vision came into focus.
It was in 2005 that Jongerencentrum The Lighthouse (Lighthouse Youth Centre) began. With the core values of family, prophecy, intimacy, revelation, and destiny, the heart of Lighthouse was to bring youth together and help them connect to God. It became a safe place and refuge. Youth conferences took place and Thursday nights became an evening of prophetic worship with a focus on youth - but everyone was welcome to join.
As the years continued to pass, Thursday nights shifted to Fridays, and the vision of Lighthouse grew to include Family Church (a bi-weekly Sunday service). In 2013, the name became more simply known as Lighthouse. The focus on youth care inside the house also shifted more towards young adults, and became Family Home, which only continues to grow to this day.
Lighthouse’s reach has also shifted out toward the nations. To be a light - a shining light - to reach the community not only locally, but internationally as well. Whether ministering to the poor, speaking at conferences or equipping a new generation of believers - Lighthouse works alongside a large international family in a variety of ways.
In 2019, Lighthouse also launched Arise & Shine Mission School with the vision of raising up a generation of world changers. Lifting them up out of their circumstances and preparing them to shine forth into the world.
As we continue in our pursuit of Holy Spirit we are excited to see where God will continue to lead us. We know that God is only just getting started, and that the journey is only just begun. We are so grateful for all that He’s done and look forward to all that He has yet to do.
